Operationfindachild.org was founded in 2007 as an online resource to help bring awareness to missing children cases and teach people how they can help too. We will use our site to create a network of email lists and RSS feeds to bring out the information on missing child cases to the world by use of the internet. It's more important now then ever before to help our children and to not let these cases disappear into the back of our minds.

We will collect information from various sources on all new, current and unsolved cases and a comprehensive database will be held for each. This will allow quick and easy cross-referencing of case information.

I started OperationCyberTip after watching the case of Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby unfold in MO just this year. Watching the overwhelming joy and support from both families and the happy ending that can occur, it gives hope to other families around the world. In October 2002, from the moment Shawn Hornbeck went missing his family began to search every day and would not give up but law enforcement stopped their search after just 6 days. The Akers then formed a foundation in their son's name to keep his name alive and to never stop searching for him. They created this foundation and a search and rescue team made up of volunteers to help find not only Shawn but other missing kids. Their efforts have helped to find missing persons and support missing kids families..

In 2007, Ben Ownby was kidnapped too but for him a good friend was paying attention and saw the truck. Just 4 days later he was found, and by a miracle so was Shawn Hornbeck, who was missing nearly 4 1/2 years. More people need to have the courage that Mitch had when he saw that truck. If more people would look and not mind their own business, other children might be found sooner. We must take action to prevent predators from taking our children and harming them.

We need to support laws in place to protect our kids and put dangerous pedophiles into jail. This site will be dedicated to those who have been found Shawn Hornbeck, Ben Ownby and to those whom we have lost or still missing in the midst of our doubt: Adam Walsh, Johnny Gosch, Jacob Wetterling. As a society we seem to blame the victims or not believe them just because they are kids. If we don't start believing in our kids who will! We must support Jessicas Law, The Adam Walsh Act, and the many more that are down the pipeline to protect our kids. The internet is a great tool but is also the very means by which these pedophiles are trading and exploiting our children. We must report child porn, and use the internet to find clues for other missing children. There are so many out there that have found clues on the internet and need to know what to do with them.
