McCanns' Sketch Of Possible Abductor
A picture of the man suspected of abducting Madeleine McCann from her
bed has been given to private detectives investigating her
disappearance. The image has been compiled from evidence given by a
woman who says that she saw Madeleine being carried away from an
Algarve holiday flat shortly before she was reported missing 176 days
ago.
It shows a white man carrying a girl wearing pink-and-white pyjamas
similar to those worn by Madeleine on the night she disappeared,
wrapped in what appears be a child’s pink blanket.
The man is approximately 35 to 40 years old, of medium build and
about 5ft 10in. He has dark collar-length hair and is wearing a dark
jacket, light beige trousers and dark shoes. He was allegedly seen by
Jane Tanner, one of the McCann family friends, at 9.15pm on May 3.
About 45 minutes later Madeleine was reported missing from her bed in
Praia da Luz.

Madeleine Latest: Sighting in Belgium raises new hopes
A woman said she saw a child she believed to be the four-year-old with a young couple on a cafe terrace in Tongeren,
near Maastricht, on Wednesday. The witness - a children's therapist - told police the girl was with an English-speaking woman
and a Dutchman.

Madeleine Latest: Appeal For Holiday Photos - 22nd May 2007 British police have appealed for holiday snaps to help identify the person who abducted Madeleine McCann.

can help in the search. Anyone staying at the Ocean Cluc Resort in the two weeks prior to Madeleine's abduction to upload or send any photographs which may have people in the background
acting suspicious or otherwise. Any photos with unidentified people in them may be useful. The CEOP can process 1000 photos per hour.
Detective Chief Superintendent Anne Harrison, of the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA), said it was possible Madeleine was still being hidden in Praia da Luz.
She also appealed for anyone who took a part in the initial search for her, before the Portuguese police arrived, to contact police on 0800 0961233.

'I Know Nothing About Missing Madeleine'
A man questioned by police searching for Madeleine McCann has told Sky News in an exclusive interview he knew nothing about her disappearance.
Sergey Malinka said the first time he heard about Madeleine was "the following day of the tragedy".
The 22-year-old said speculation about him had damaged his name and career.
He told Sky News' Amanda Walker his relationship with suspect Robert Murat was "strictly professional".
"Police confirmed I am a witness and not a suspect," he said.
"Police know better who is the suspect and who is the witness."

RUSSIAN Serg Malinka told The Sun yesterday how he set up a website for Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat.
Speaking just before being arrested Malinka, 22, said he also worked on a computer owned by the one-eyed Briton and had met him several times.
He added: “I did do some work for Robert and found him a really cool guy.
“He wanted a website created and I did a lot of work getting it together for him.”
Before being quizzed as a suspect, he insisted to The Sun: “I’m not the man — it’s definitely not me”.
Asked if he had any criminal convictions, Moscow-born Malinka said: “Not as far as I know. I have just had all my residency papers approved and checks are always made for criminal convictions.”
Minutes after the interview, detectives took him into custody. It was later reported on Portuguese national TV that he had convictions for sex offences. Detectives are believed to have been in contact with the Russian branch of Interpol.
Police were searching his parents’ home in a five-storey block of flats in Praia da Luz and another property in nearby La Goa. Malinka had lived with his parents but is thought to have moved to a flat above his computer shop.
As the search began Malinka’s father, aged around 50, watched from the car park but refused to comment.
At one point Malinka was taken back there from a police station by six plain-clothed officers. Maddie’s parents almost stumbled into the police operation as they arrived for a church service 200 yards away.
Cops were just leading Malinka out of the building when 38-year-olds Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, walked past the end of the road. Police continued carting away bags and computers, then drove Malinka away for further questioning.
Meanwhile it emerged there is an under-floor chamber at his home, 100 yards from where Maddie, four, was snatched as she slept in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz a fortnight ago.
Measuring nine yards by five yards the “void” is reached only through a trapdoor in the lounge.

Madeleine: Expert Calls For Case Review Updated: 11:57, Thursday May 24, 2007 It is now three weeks since four-year-old Madeleine McCann was snatched from her bed at a Portugal resort. Sky News Online has spoken to a crime expert about the ongoing investigation.
Former police detective Mark Williams-Thomas visited Praia da Luz in the days after Madeleine was abducted. He is critical of the way Portuguese police began their investigation but remains confident of a successful outcome. The child protection expert said local detectives should now be considering an external review of their case. This is his view: Having been out there and observed the crime scene, it's so different to the sort of crime scene you would see in Britain. One has to be careful of making comparisons but the British methods are tried and tested. My initial observation was that the crime scene was poorly preserved - there was no one securing the patio doors, which I would refer to as the point of entry. Everyone talks about the back doors but having attended the scene I thought there was no way someone would force open some shutters and climb in the window where you could easily be noticed, when you could simply walk through the patio door. The inner cordon was very close to the apartment, within 30 yards. I would have put the inner cordon 100 yards away. There are limitations to that because there's a shop nearby and there are apartments so some of the cordon might be less than that. But it should have been at least 50 yards.
That's because whoever has taken Madeleine has been into the apartment and has gained access via the roads leading to the apartment and directly outside it. There could be a whole load of possible pieces of evidence that could be obtained from that area, such as DNA from various objects or tyre tracks. Having been there for a few days it became clear that there was no process of stopping and questioning people who are living in the area or visiting it. The significance of this is that there are people who may hold vital clues that have seen someone acting suspiciously or may have seen something suspicious. There's a supermarket that is the only one in the village and it's a place that the offender or offenders could have gone into and bought some drinks or food. They should have been stopping and speaking to everyone who went into that supermarket. I went in there every day and I never saw a police officer asking any questions. Unfortunately for the police, although the supermarket has CCTV, it was broken two weeks prior to the offence. Otherwise that might have held vital evidence. CCTV has played such a prominent part in police investigations in the UK. The streets around Praia Da Luz don't have CCTV cameras unfortunately.
